Polygon’s Milestone with Type 1 Prover
Polygon launched a new product announced last minute on Friday, which was a significant milestone. It caught the attention of many in the crypto community, including Vitalik Buterin. The market introduction of the Type 1 prover, developed to increase the scalability and interoperability of Ethereum-compatible (EVM-supported) networks through zero-knowledge proof, was exciting.
Vitalik Buterin wrote the following about this topic;
“Personally, my hope is that through a combination of improvements in ZK-EVMs and enhancements made to make Ethereum itself more ZK-SNARK friendly, everything will eventually become Type 1. In such a future, we will have multiple ZK-EVM implementations that can be used for both ZK rollups and for verifying the Ethereum network itself.”
This move, aiming to reduce transaction fees on the Ethereum network by 30/50 times, could solidify Polygon’s position in the industry in the long run.
