Mastercard partners with Polygon to establish an artist incubator program for web 3

One of the largest financial payment companies in the world, Mastercard, announced on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, that it is starting a web3-focused incubator to support artists in connecting with followers through a new medium.

According to Raja Rajamannar, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Mastercard, the crux of this program is to provide up-and-coming musicians with the web3 tools and abilities they need to succeed and expand their careers in the digital economy.

He added that because artists can access experts and trailblazers in the field, they will be guided on how to incorporate web3 technology once onboarded in the program and beyond.

The Mastercard Artist Accelerator program

The Mastercard 2023 Artist Accelerator will give five up-and-coming artists, including musicians, DJs, and producers, the resources, know-how, and connections they need to carve out successful careers in the digital industry. These artists will also have exclusive access to events, song releases, and more.

During this program, they will learn how to develop (and own) their brand using Web3 activities, including creating NFTs, putting up virtual personas, and creating active communities through a groundbreaking curriculum.

The Mastercard Artist Accelerator is a space for content creators to thrive and an opening for fans wishing to have a seat at the table.

The Mastercard Music Pass, a limited-edition NFT, will grant owners access to the special Web3 x Music learning tools, distinctive assets, and authentic experiences in the metaverse.

MasterCard is taping polygon blockchain

Mastercard collaborated with Polygon, a growing blockchain based on Ethereum that has recently made significant advancements in the Web 2.0 industry.

Many other well-known companies have partnered with Polygon recently, including Disney, Starbucks, and major apparel companies like Prada and Adidas, which have also launched NFT projects through Polygon’s blockchain.

According to Ryan Wyatt, CEO of Polygon Studios, Web3 can empower a new breed of artists who can gain a following, support themselves, and develop cutting-edge platforms for self-expression and human connection.

He continued by saying that the Mastercard Artist Accelerator demonstrates the strength of businesses embracing this new market and offers resources that may instruct customers on how to take part and enjoy the benefits of Web3.

Mastercard has been doing a lot with crypto and metaverse

While MasterCard’s latest announcement further confirms its expansion plans into the digital world, it is also essential to know that Mastercard has joined forces with crypto-centric companies to launch unique credit cards.

Recently, MasterCard and Coinbase partnered to support, among other things, the growth of the NFT ecosystem.

Mastercard also hosted the inaugural Grammy week with Roblox in the metaverse, offering immersive activations, in-game branding, artist meet & greets, red carpet picture opportunities, and more.
